FRENCH GRAND NATIONAL PARIS, France, April 3.— The Easter season of racing opened at Auteuil race course last Sunday with the running of the President de la Republique Stakes, known as the French Grand National Steeplechase. Xopime was tht winner; Master Bob finished second and Barker third. The winner paid 18 to 1 in the mutuels. Sixteen out of twenty-one starters finished. Heros XII.. winner of the race in 1021 and 1922. ran gamely under his impost of 157 pounds, but was unable to finish better than fifth. — a
